HR Generalist

Electric Research and Manufacturing Cooperative, Inc. (ERMCO) is a leading manufacturer of distribution transformers and engineered electrical solutions for electric utilities, OEMs, and industrial customers across North America. Job Summary The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting the day‑to‑day operations of the Human Resources department by administering HR policies, fostering positive employee relations, and ensuring consistent execution of HR processes. The position requires a detail‑oriented professional with strong interpersonal skills and a solid foundation in Human Resources practices and employment law. The Generalist collaborates closely with leadership and the broader HR team to advance organizational goals and cultivate a culture of employee engagement. This role will be onsite in Dyersburg, TN. Relocation assistance is available. Responsibilities Serve as a primary point of contact for employees and supervisors regarding HR policies, procedures, and general inquiries Support employee relations activities by addressing concerns, documenting issues, and escalating complex matters as needed Assist in administering and maintaining HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook guidelines Provide guidance to managers on performance management processes, including documentation and corrective action support Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR data in HRIS and personnel files Assist with compliance‑related activities by ensuring documentation is complete and practices align with company policies and applicable laws Prepare and maintain HR reports, metrics, and audit documentation Support onboarding and employee transitions by coordinating paperwork and ensuring a smooth experience (administrative support only) Partner with leadership to promote consistent HR practices and a positive work environment Participate in audits, investigations, and internal reviews by gathering information and documentation as needed Monitor and help ensure adherence to workplace policies, procedures, and standards Contribute to employee engagement efforts, communication initiatives, and HR projects Perform other duties and assignments as assigned Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. Minimum 3 years of relevant HR experience in a manufacturing environment. SHRM‑CP or PHR certification a plus. Knowledge and Abilities Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, EEO, etc.) and ability to apply them consistently. Strong communication skills and ability to maintain positive working relationships with employees, managers, and leadership at all levels. Capability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Knowledge of core HR practices including employee relations, benefits administration, recruitment, and performance management, with ability to support each area competently. Ability to assess situations objectively, recommend fair and consistent solutions, and contribute to continuous process improvement.
