Diesel Technician (Refrigeration a Plus)

LOCATIONS: Saint Paul / Mahtomedi / Rosemount

Job Summary

This position is responsible for routine maintenance, diagnostics and repair on all trucks/vehicles and related equipment. To succeed in this role, one should have a solid knowledge of basic mechanic's tools, service, and diagnostic equipment, as well as strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and customer service skills, and be able to work independently or as a team member.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostics and repairs on starting & charging systems, cooling, and re-charge, electrical and common fault codes.
• Inspect, analyze, and diagnose trucks/vehicles and related equipment for mechanical issues, faulty and replacement parts.
• Perform leak detection and repairs, compressor replacements, soldering refrigerant lines, evaporator/condenser replacements and front & rear main engine seal replacements in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standard.
• Perform routine maintenance and Federal inspections on trailers, trucks/vehicles, and related equipment.
• Problem solve and document an action plan for all repairs and follow checklists and protocols while conducting repairs.
• Ensure a safe, organized, and tidy workspace, including regularly cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.
• Follow all health and safety rules and guidelines, as well as common sense safety practices.
• Ability to work independently, as well as support coworkers, able to work as part of team and work well with co-workers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

• Experience: 1–2 years of mechanical or equivalent experience.

• Certifications: ASE certifications highly desired but not required.

• Must pass pre-employment knowledge/skill test, background check (10-year), and drug/medical physical exam.

• Proven mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.

• Ability to read and write in English for documentation and communication.

• Must have own tools and safety steel-toed shoes.

Physical Demands

• Heavy Work: Exert up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly.

• Frequent activities: Walking, standing, climbing, stooping, crouching, balancing, kneeling, and crawling.

• Manual dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping, typing, and operating tools.

• Sensory abilities: Talking, hearing, & vision sufficient for detailed inspection, safe operation of tools, machinery, and vehicles.

Work Environment

• Work is performed primarily in a shop setting — both indoors and outdoors. Conditions may include exposure to:

• Non-climate-controlled environments / Hot/cold temperature changes

• Dirt, dust, soot, fumes, and other airborne particles

• Moving mechanical parts and electrical equipment

• Chemicals and limited ventilation

• High places, confined spaces, and loud noise

• Proper PPE and adherence to safety protocols are required at all times.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Rate: $30 – $45 (depending on experience and assigned location)

Sign-On Bonuses for 3rd Shifts: $3,000 total bonus for qualifying technicians

• $1,500 paid after 90 days
• $1,500 paid after 180 days

1st Shift - 2 openings in Mahtomedi, 55115 : 7:00 AM-3:30 PM Sunday-Thursday / Tuesday-Saturday

2nd Shift - 1 opening in Mahtomedi, 55115 : 3:00 PM-11:30 PM Sunday-Thursday | 2 openings in Rosemount, 55068 : 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM Sunday-Thursday / Tuesday-Saturday

3rd Shift - 1 opening in Mahtomedi, 55115 - 11:00 PM-7:30 AM Thursday - Monday | 2 openings in Rosemount, 55068 : 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
