Environmental Scientist 1

Overview As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you’ll help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. From designing resilient highways and iconic bridges to advancing transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, federal transportation ports, and marine infrastructure, your work will directly support economic vitality, public safety, and sustainable, resilient communities. Responsibilities Work on a wide variety of environmental compliance and natural resources projects related to water resources, transportation, and development projects. Work under the supervision of mid‑level and senior environmental scientists and engineers. Assist with environmental permits, NEPA documentation, biological assessments, and other environmental compliance documentation. Assist senior and mid‑level scientists in field work associated with the collection of natural resource data. Use GIS to display data and evaluate impacts. Perform other duties as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or a closely related field. Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements. Excellent writing and communication skills.
