Duration: 10 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - 1 year of PCU experience or prior ICU experience - Cerner experience - Excellent patient care and documentation skills

Department: PCU / IMC / Med Surg RN. Number of Beds: 12 plus 4 rooms for ICU; average census is 8 patients. Nurse to Patient Ratios: Ratios 1:3-5; ICU 1:3; IMC/PCU 1:3-4; MS 1:5. 2 RNs in the department at all times. Team nursing with RN and LPN to cover a total of 7 patients. Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients: Pneumonia, COVID, Post-operative knees and hips, falls. RNs are required to titrate drips. Common titratable and/or set rate drips include Amiodarone, Heparin, Levo, Cardizem, Dobutamine, and pressors. The charge nurse typically takes a small patient assignment. Travelers may be asked to step into a charge role. There are nurse aides on this unit, with ratios dependent on census. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips. Shift scheduling is managed by a scheduler who works with staff. Travelers are asked to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent staffing. Weekend requirements include every third weekend. Holiday requirements include working 2 out of 3 holidays. There is call or standby required; response time is 45 minutes. Floating requirements include potential to float into other areas if necessary. Scrub color/dress code: solid color. Unit-specific orientation includes 4 hours of CBT and 8 hours of floor training. All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility. Please note: Previous workers must have an end date of at least 6 months prior to reapplying.
