This role focuses on installing trash and linen chutes on commercial construction projects across Michigan and the broader Midwest. You will read and interpret blueprints, use a variety of tools, and complete installations to a high standard of safety and quality. The position involves frequent overnight travel and hands-on work in active construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Install trash and linen chutes on commercial construction projects according to specifications and project requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings to plan and execute accurate installations.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to measure, cut, assemble, and secure materials.
• Perform finish carpentry tasks as needed to complete and trim chute installations.
• Inspect work areas and materials to ensure installations meet quality standards and align with project plans.
• Coordinate with site teams and other trades to schedule and complete installation activities efficiently.
• Travel within Michigan and throughout the Midwest for installation projects, including frequent overnight stays.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all site safety rules and procedures.
• Communicate clearly with supervisors, coworkers, and customers to provide updates on progress and address any issues on site.

Essential Skills

• Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and site personnel.
• Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Proficiency in measuring accurately to ensure proper fit and alignment of materials.
• Ability and willingness to travel overnight and out of state approximately 5070% of the time.
• Capability to read and understand blueprints and construction drawings.
• Comfort working on active commercial construction sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous installation experience, especially with building components or systems.
• Experience in finish carpentry or related carpentry work.
• Experience in construction environments, particularly commercial projects.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
• Reliable transportation to reach job sites and staging locations.

Work Environment

This position is field-based and involves working on commercial construction sites throughout Michigan and the Midwest. You will spend 6070% of your time traveling, often with overnight stays, with hotels and travel expenses covered. Work is hands-on and physically active, requiring the use of hand and power tools and regular interaction with other trades on site. You will operate in a construction environment that may include noise, dust, and varying weather conditions, and you will follow site safety rules and wear appropriate work attire and safety gear as required by each project location.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rochester Hills, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
