Selector – Dairy Production

The Selector is responsible for evaluating, selecting, and preparing dairy products for shipment by following customer order sheets and quality specifications. This role involves order picking, packaging, documentation, and maintaining cleanliness in a cold, fast‑paced refrigerated environment.

Responsibilities

• Order Picking — Pull customer orders in sequence and place products onto the conveyor chain.

• Product Verification — Check each item after placement to ensure accuracy and quality.

• Labeling & Documentation — Apply correct customer information and record code dates on load sheets.

• Quality Reporting — Identify and report any quality issues to the supervisor.

• Facility Cleanliness — Pick up trash, clean cooler spills, and hose down chains, chain covers, and floors daily.

• Manual Palletizing — Build pallets manually using a hand truck (dolly).

• General Support — Perform additional duties as assigned to support production flow.

Essential Skills

• Schedule Flexibility — Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.

• Basic Math — Competent with simple calculations for documentation and order accuracy.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Physical Endurance — Experience working in physically demanding environments with continuous movement.

Work Environment

Work in a cold, refrigerated production area with constant lifting, bending, crouching, and physical activity. This role requires comfort working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.50 - $17.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
