Assistant Manager I

Position Assistant Store Manager Location 4221 Pleasant Valley Rd Ste 11, Virginia Beach, VA 23464-8519 Overview Assist with store operations, customer service, and team development for Family Dollar. Responsibilities Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities. Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns. Organize merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom and sales floor; maintain seasonal areas. Perform opening and closing procedures as needed. Process corporate directives including Pull and Hold/Destroy, Task Compliance, Key Survey information requests, and other store communications. Maintain promotional effectiveness of store‑front fixtures and displays. Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, and record keeping (payroll, scheduling, and cash register deposits and receipts). Maintain loss prevention and ensure secure handling of company assets, including cash. Maintain store areas and organize the stockroom to company standards. Help the Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates. Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment while maintaining professional and friendly interactions with customers, associates, and leaders. Maintain cleanliness throughout the store, including restroom cleaning, sweeping, mopping floors, taking out trash, and keeping all areas neat and presentable. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent preferred; required ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives. Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred. Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to above shoulder height and perform frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting. Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required. Ability to work in a high‑energy, team environment required.
