Maintenance Planner

Maintenance PlannerThe Maintenance Planner is responsible for the planning and execution of all plant maintenance work and purchasing functions. This role will serve as an active player/coach within the maintenance team, both administering jobs, sourcing parts, building kits, and planning work. The role will be responsible for assistance with Maintenance Management software (JDE) operations and coordination of purchasing activities as they relate to the successful operation of the facility, and for maintaining appropriate spare parts and consumable inventory levels. The Maintenance Planner must be well-versed in maintenance tools/techniques and be able to facilitate training for other company employees in maintenance fundamentals. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager.ResponsibilitiesPlans, schedules, and coordinates corrective and preventive maintenance activitiesOften serves as the liaison between Maintenance and Operations to prioritize and coordinate workStages parts and other preparation for maintenance jobsDevelops and maintains a work plan and scheduleEnsures that JDE software data files are complete and currentAssists with inventory and purchasing functionsIdentifies, analyzes, and troubleshoots equipment maintenance problemsReviews daily Stores Issues Report to confirm accuracyConducts daily review of performed maintenance tasksConducts monthly inventory cycle countsReceives incoming shipments and invoicesOrganizes and categorizes storeroom parts and equipmentPerforms purchasing to support efficient plant operationsUtilizes JDE to enter purchase requisitions and purchase ordersWorks with vendors to find optimal pricing and delivery optionsPerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsREQUIRED SKILLS: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.Minimum 5 years in front line maintenance experienceAbility to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals/manualsComputer aptitude for planning and scheduling, ERP system.MS Excel experience and basic skills.Must be accurate and trustworthy with the ability to create and accept change.Strong leadership and organizational skills.Minimal travel possible for training.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Working knowledge of MS Office.Understanding of Total Productive Maintenance program elements and methods.Able to give firm direction in day to day assignments to maintenance personnel.Willing to engage all plant personnel to complete maintenance tasks.Ability to approach problems analytically based on a strong foundation of practical experience.PREFERRED SKILLS: Prior experience working with skilled tradesPrevious experience working with JDE softwareExperience with EAM systems or CMMSAbout UsU.S. Silica is a leading producer of industrial minerals essential to modern life.
