High School Teacher - ENL

Duties and Responsibilities Teachers are responsible for ensuring that all students in their classes are achieving at high levels academically, emotionally, and socially. Develop effective, standard-aligned lessons that support student learning and achievement of school academic objectives, benchmarks and state learning standards Plan purposefully to provide students with opportunities for constructing meaning and developing understandings of new concepts Utilize developmentally appropriate and rigorous curricula and instructional materials and present students with new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies that inspire and guide them to explore, express, and uncover new ideas Build relationships with families of ECS students through frequent communication about students’ progress and ways that families can support their children’s learning Create a classroom community that maintains the school’s high academic and social expectations for students Actively work to improve their own practice, to acquire and enhance the skills and knowledge necessary for excellent instruction, and to generally increase their effectiveness in the classroom and the school community Operate according to the professional standards of the school and uphold the vision and mission of the school Other assignments as needed to support the needs of the school, as may be assigned by the principal or their designee Qualifications & Competencies Understanding of and commitment to the mission, goals, educational philosophy, and activities of Evergreen, as described in the school’s charter Bachelor’s Degree required, higher degree preferred Valid New York State teaching certification Bilingual (Spanish/English) is helpful Experience working with diverse populations of students, parents, and families Commitment to continuous improvement and learning through professional development Benefits Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Schedule 8-hour shift Day shift Monday to Friday Location Hempstead, NY Evergreen Charter School is an equal opportunity employer (EEO). #J-18808-Ljbffr LIVERPOOL CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
