QC Lead

Location: Penn Yan

Employment Type: Hourly / Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced QC Lead to oversee daily quality control operations in a fast-paced production environment. This role is responsible for ensuring all quality processes, testing, and compliance activities are executed accurately and efficiently while promoting a culture of food safety and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate daily quality control activities across all active production lines

• Ensure proper staffing of quality personnel and verify completion of required quality checks at specified intervals

• Validate product codes, prints, and ensure all documentation and records are accurate and complete

• Ensure proper handling of microbiological samples, paperwork, and timely laboratory testing

• Enforce GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) and food safety standards across operations

• Support calibration programs and perform in-house equipment calibration as needed

• Train, coach, and support team members while maintaining accountability for performance

• Assist with special projects, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives

• Maintain compliance with all safety, regulatory, and company standards

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead by example to foster teamwork, accountability, and strong communication

• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet production, quality, and safety goals

• Escalate quality issues appropriately and support corrective actions

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required

• 2+ years of quality experience or prior leadership experience in a manufacturing or lab environment

• Laboratory experience required; internal candidates must hold current certification

• Strong understanding of microbiology practices, laboratory testing, and GMPs

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities

Skills & Competencies

• Strong organizational and documentation skills

• Effective communication and problem-solving abilities

• Proficiency with computer systems and data entry programs

• Ability to delegate tasks, manage time, and lead a team effectively

• Knowledge of microbiological and analytical lab processes
