Role Description The Diesel Mechanic role at Jenkins Transport LLC is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Houston area. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines and related systems on trucks and auto hauling transport equipment. Day-to-day tasks include performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing repairs in a timely manner, and maintaining accurate service records. The Diesel Mechanic will collaborate with drivers and dispatch to ensure equipment readiness, respond to breakdowns as needed, and help keep the fleet operating safely and efficiently. Qualifications Strong skills in Diesel Mechanics and experience working with heavy-duty trucks including but not limited to Auto Haulers and Heavy Equipment. Proficiency in Vehicle Maintenance, including engine, brake, suspension, and drivetrain systems. Experience with Equipment Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance programs to minimize downtime. Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment. Relevant technical training or certification in diesel technology or automotive/heavy equipment repair preferred. Previous experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician in a fleet, trucking, or transport environment is beneficial. Ability to read and interpret service manuals and work orders, and to maintain clear, accurate maintenance records.
