Voyager Technologies is seeking an Associate Quality Engineer to support product and process quality within an energetics manufacturing environment, including explosives, propellants, pyrotechnics, or related energetic materials. This entry-level role works under close supervision, applying foundational engineering knowledge to practical quality tasks while building an understanding of the regulatory, customer, and internal quality requirements that govern an energetics manufacturing environment. This position offers the opportunity to develop core technical and quality skills while contributing to mission-critical programs. Key Responsibilities Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems in compliance with ISO 9001/AS9100, customer specifications, and applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., ATF, DoD, OSHA), under the guidance of senior team members. Assist manufacturing operations by helping ensure process controls, inspection plans, and acceptance criteria are defined and followed. Participate in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for nonconformances, defects, and customer complaints under supervision. Assist in reviewing manufacturing procedures, inspection instructions, and quality records related to energetics production. Support internal audits and assist with external audits (customer, regulatory, and certification). Help collect, organize, and analyze quality data and metrics to support trend identification and continuous improvement initiatives. Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, EHS, and Supply Chain to learn how quality requirements are integrated throughout the product lifecycle. Support supplier quality activities, including supplier qualification, audits, and corrective actions, as directed. Participate in failure investigations, material review boards (MRB), and risk assessments (e.g., FMEA) as a contributing team member. Ensure strict adherence to safety, security, and handling requirements for energetic materials. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related discipline). 0–2 years of quality engineering experience; relevant internships, co-ops, or academic projects in a regulated manufacturing environment are a plus. Foundational knowledge of quality management systems, inspection methods, and statistical techniques. Exposure to root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, SPC) through coursework or prior experience. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Willingness and ability to work effectively in high-hazard, safety-critical manufacturing environments under close supervision. Preferred Qualifications Coursework, internship, or project experience in energetics, explosives, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability manufacturing industries. Interest in pursuing ASQ certifications such as Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE). Basic familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or DoD quality requirements. Exposure to configuration management and controlled documentation systems. General understanding of government contract requirements and customer quality clauses. Eligibility Requirements Candidates must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses: Must be at least 21 years of age. Ability to pass State and Federal background checks. Ability to obtain and maintain applicable State and Federal explosives licenses. Export Control To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. The good faith base annual salary range for this role is $65,000-$85,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
