Rheumatologists specialize in autoimmune and inflammatory conditions affecting the joints and muscles. Key responsibilities include diagnosing and managing rheumatologic diseases, developing treatment plans, including medication and physical therapy, and educating patients on disease management.

Requirements include an MD or DO degree, completion of internal medicine residency and rheumatology fellowship, board certification in rheumatology, strong problem-solving skills for complex conditions, and good communication and counseling skills.
