RN - Mother Baby

Registered Nurse Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum

This position involves providing care to mothers and their newborns in the postpartum unit. Candidates with Labor & Delivery experience are preferred due to support of high-risk antepartum cases. Electronic Fetal Monitoring experience is an asset. Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 during shifts. The average daily census is approximately 15 patients. First-time travelers are accepted. Weekend rotation is required every other weekend. Floating to other units, such as NICU or Antepartum, may be necessary to meet facility needs. The unit handles various patient diagnoses, including postpartum complications and newly delivered mothers and babies. Special procedures include a blood sugar protocol for infants, phototherapy, and postpartum hemorrhage management. Nurses will assist with circumcision care and other postpartum responsibilities. Special equipment utilized includes phototherapy units. The facility is a short-term acute care designation with a total of 431 staffed beds. Interdisciplinary support is available from physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services.
