Child Nutrition Program Assistant Manager
Supervisor: CNP Manager, Principal, and CNP Director
Job Goals:
- To provide direction, planning, monitoring, and oversight of the local school Child Nutrition Program (CNP).
- To supervise, direct, and evaluate CNP personnel and designated staff to ensure quality and safety of school system food services.
- To provide food preparation services for Marengo County Schools.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Child Nutrition Program guidelines and regulations.
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Ability to use technology as required to perform job responsibilities.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assist in the supervision and development of assigned personnel according to school system procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership, organization, collaboration, and planning skills to accomplish school goals and job requirements.
- Ability to possess and maintain food safety certification provided by the Marengo County Health Department and/or the National Restaurant Association.
- Possess and maintain required health certifications including tuberculin skin test results.
- Strength, stamina, agility, dexterity, and acuity to perform job responsibilities safely and effectively.
- Ability, agility and stamina to engage in prolonged standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, turning, reaching, and repetitive lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
- Such alternative qualifications to those listed as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates support for the school system and its goals and priorities.
- Assists in preparation and service of food according to the written menu of the day.
- Participates in and assists in supervising job rotation/schedule as assigned by CNP Manager or Supervisor.
- Assists CNP manager in ensuring the smooth function of activities during meal times, filling in where necessary.
- Assists CNP manager in taking inventories, making reports, ordering food, supplies, and following menus.
- Demonstrates skills and knowledge in operation of and maintenance techniques for all food service equipment.
- Notifies the CNP manager when food staples or supplies need replenishing.
- Assists in the general cleaning of the kitchen and dining areas.
- Assists in storing commodities and other food and supplies.
- In the absence of the CNP manager, assumes the manager's responsibilities.
- Observes proper sanitation measures necessary in preparing, serving and storing food.
- Observes safety precautions in the kitchen and related work areas.
- Cooperates with the principal, CNP manager, and CNP director in maintaining high standards in the food service program.
- Works cooperatively with co-workers, teachers, parents, and deals effectively with students.
- Follows written and verbal instructions and communicates effectively with others.
- Assists school CNP staff in interpreting the goals and objectives of the school food service program to students, teachers, parents and community members.
- Cooperates with health officials in supporting all local and state public health laws and codes.
- Participates in and promotes in-service training, conferences, and continuing educational programs for self-improvement and for other CNP personnel.
- Maintains professional appearance and dress appropriate for school food service program (uniform, hair net/hat, closed-toe shoes with non-skid sole, etc.)
- Models and encourages CNP employees to observe high standards of grooming, safety, and effective work habits.
- Uses computer software/technology for CNP operations as assigned.
- Demonstrates professional ethics and effective leadership.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters in accordance with state and federal law.
- Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
- Responds to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
- Maintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
- Properly cares for equipment and material resources of the school system.
- Uses effective collaboration skills to work as an effective team member.
- Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
- Reports absences and takes leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable state law.
Salary: As established in accordance with the provisions of the Marengo County Schools salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performances will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
