Position: Mindfulness Coach

Location: Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey
Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite

Position Overview

Owen Health Care is seeking a qualified Mindfulness Coach- Military Human Performance, to support Airmen assigned to the 621st Contingency Response Wing at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.

The Mindfulness Coach will provide evidence-based, nonclinical mindfulness and mental-performance coaching to strengthen focus, resilience, stress-management skills, cognitive readiness, and performance in demanding operational environments.

This professional will work as part of an integrated human-performance team alongside an Athletic Trainer and Functional Strength Coach.

This position is limited to performance enhancement and nonclinical coaching. Formal mental-health diagnosis, clinical counseling, psychotherapy, treatment, and patient care remain the responsibility of authorized Government medical and behavioral-health providers.

Role Responsibilities

The Mindfulness Coach will:

• Develop and deliver evidence-based mindfulness and mental-performance education tailored to military mission requirements.
• Teach practical techniques that improve attention, concentration, emotional regulation, stress management, mental preparation, and performance readiness.
• Coach Airmen on cognitive resilience, decision-making under stress, fatigue management, and maintaining performance during high-tempo operations.
• Facilitate group workshops and individual coaching sessions within the approved nonclinical scope.
• Integrate mindfulness techniques with physical training and other human-performance activities.
• Coordinate with squadron personnel to schedule accessible, mission-relevant training sessions.
• Develop portable mindfulness and performance exercises for deployments, field operations, high-tempo missions, and other demanding environments.
• Recognize concerns that fall outside the nonclinical scope and make appropriate referrals through authorized Government medical or support channels.
• Participate in integrated performance assessments and multidisciplinary program planning.
• Track participation and program outcomes using Government-approved tools.
• Provide complete and accurate information for required monthly program reports.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Maintain all required credentials and complete required continuing education, installation training, and program onboarding.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must meet all Government-specified minimum requirements.

Education

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Psychology or Counseling, as specified in the solicitation.

Professional Credential

• Active and current National Certified Counselor (NCC) credential issued by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).

A general mindfulness certification, meditation certificate, wellness certificate, life-coaching certificate, or similar course completion does not satisfy the required NCC credential.

Professional Experience

• At least two years of relevant professional experience.

Relevant experience should demonstrate the ability to provide services involving counseling, mindfulness, mental performance, resilience, stress management, behavioral performance, or a closely related discipline consistent with the solicitation.

Additional Requirements

• U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to successfully satisfy all applicable background-screening and drug-testing requirements.
• Ability to meet military installation-access requirements.
• Ability to obtain required base identification or a Common Access Card, as applicable.
• Ability to complete mandatory Government and installation training.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a nonclinical mindfulness and performance-coaching scope.
• Ability to recognize when an issue exceeds the position's scope and make an appropriate referral through authorized Government medical or support channels.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are preferred but are not additional Government minimum requirements:

• Experience working with military personnel, first responders, athletes, high-performance professionals, or other demanding operational populations.
• Experience facilitating mindfulness workshops, resilience training, mental-performance workshops, or stress-management education.
• Familiarity with operational stress, fatigue, deployment-related performance challenges, and high-tempo environments.
• Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary human-performance team.
• Strong group-facilitation and interpersonal communication skills.
• A practical, engaging, and performance-oriented coaching style.

Work Environment

• This is primarily an onsite position at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.
• The workweek will not exceed 40 hours.
• Work schedules may be adjusted to accommodate squadron training schedules, mission requirements, operational demands, and Airmen availability.
• Authorized domestic travel may be required.
• No Secret security clearance is required under the current solicitation clarifications.
