Junior Systems Administrator

Salary: $79,040 - 110,240 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree.
• At least 4 years of experience in IT Operations.
• Experience managing virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V or VMware.
• Strong working knowledge of Linux operating systems; Windows Server administration experience is preferred.
• Experience configuring and managing Active Directory, Domain Controllers, Group Policy, and DNS.
• Experience with Exchange, Microsoft 365, mail flow, and SMTP.
• Proficiency in Linux automation using Bash, Python, or Ansible to create, modify, and run scripts; PowerShell is a plus.
• Experience with Proofpoint or other email protection systems.
• Experience implementing and managing hyper-converged infrastructure.
• Experience implementing and managing enterprise-scale backup and recovery solutions.
• Understanding of project management methodologies such as Scrum and Agile; Jira experience is a plus.
• Proficiency implementing and supporting Windows-based Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
• Familiarity with operating system file structures, command-line interfaces, and network services.
• Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

• Collaborate with IT Operations colleagues to maintain the availability, reliability, and performance of infrastructure and operating systems supporting business applications.
• Maintain procedures, standards, and knowledge-base documentation for supported systems, configurations, troubleshooting, and routine operations.
• Review security notifications and system alerts, evaluate their impact, and apply approved updates or remediation.
• Monitor performance and capacity metrics, identify trends and risks, and share findings to support reliability, capacity planning, and operational decisions.
• Proactively identify hardware and software issues and resolve them before they cause system failures.
• Improve systems and processes to reduce recurring issues, strengthen reliability, and meet business needs.
• Maintain backup jobs, validate disaster recovery procedures, and assist with scheduled restore testing.
• Troubleshoot software, hardware, operating system, and network issues, coordinating with internal teams and vendors to restore service and prevent recurrence.
• Help evaluate tools, hardware, and software for systems administration, monitoring, automation, security, and operational support.
• Maintain security and integrity controls, including access, configuration, patching, and operational compliance.
• Respond promptly to assigned incidents, service requests, and operational tasks, following procedures and escalating issues when needed.
• Perform routine administration, including user and access support, server maintenance, operating system patching, configuration updates, health checks, and scheduled-job validation, primarily in Linux and as needed in Windows.
• Coordinate with application, network, security, service desk, and infrastructure teams to investigate issues, support changes, and maintain stable technology services.

We are recruiting for a Systems Administrator to support day-to-day IT Operations across server, virtualization, directory, messaging, backup, and endpoint infrastructure, primarily in Linux environments with some Windows systems. This is a telecommute role with a 9 a.m.–5 p.m. schedule and an advertised pay range of $38–$53 per hour.
