Sr. Mobile Diesel Mechanic

EOE, including disability/vets Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician The Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician is responsible for performing licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The role functions as a lead on jobsites, acting as a consultant for customers and technicians, and must meet high performance metrics. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. Conduct minor adjustments and repairs of truck equipment, including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road test vehicles to confirm proper operation after repairs. Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and use sound judgment to determine accurate solutions. Independently manage parts inventory and reconcile equipment on company‑issued service trucks. Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, including safety checks and pre/post‑trip inspections. Work effectively with clients and customers to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues. Prioritize and manage concurrent tasks and time allocations efficiently. Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as required. Document work according to company standards, uploading pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (RO) via the proprietary TRAIT application on an iOS device. Accurately complete DOT forms and all required documentation in a timely manner. Work independently, manage daily schedule, and maintain high productivity within standard repair times. Source parts from approved local and national vendors as needed. Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for repair estimates, purchase order numbers, and RO findings. Ensure all work complies with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. Requirements High School Diploma or GED and at least 3 years of related experience; or a higher degree or certification plus 5 years of experience in a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment. Supply a complete set of hand tools required for the duties. OEM training and certifications are preferred. Complete all company required training. Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical; a current DOT medical card with more than 4 months remaining may substitute for the physical. Be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
