Full job description: Operations Manager 226 Days Pay Grade 102 Salary Range: Min. $60,787 Mid. $73,088 Max. $85,390 Job Req #31395 DATE AVAILABLE: Immediately Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a related field Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the capacity of Operations Supervisor, Assistant, or equivalent in at least 150,000 square feet of the event facility Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience in maintaining appropriate operation budget line items Demonstrate knowledge of practices and procedures related to event set‑up and conversions; typical methods and techniques for cleaning and maintaining the facility equipment; and proper use and care of hand and power tools Demonstrate ability to carry out tasks in a reliable, productive, and expedient manner and be able to adhere to strict deadlines Possess skills and experience in purchasing procedures and supervising/training personnel; engage in decision‑making governed by procedure and guided by policy Understand and work from general instructions, specifications, blueprints, sketches, event documents, and preventive maintenance schedules Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results Operate a personal computer using CAD, Windows, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, EBMS, Meeting Matrix, Outlook, and other standard office equipment Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative in a fast‑paced environment Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur Work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekdays, and holidays, as needed Major Responsibilities and Duties Analyze event service orders and prepare work plans for set‑up/tear‑down crews Assist in monitoring inventory control Supervise the work of set‑up and tear‑down crews Safely operate automotive equipment such as vans, forklifts, and hydraulic power lifts in work performance Provide proper training and instruction for part‑time operations staff Respond promptly to user needs for setup changes or additional equipment Communicate problem areas to the Director Advise of maintenance/repair issues that need to be addressed Advise custodial and housekeeping issues as needed Maintain a flexible schedule as driven by events Direct, supervise, and schedule all aspects of Curtis Culwell Center Operations, including Utility, Engineering, Janitorial, Landscape, and Changeover Coordinate the Operations activities with other departments and event‑related contractors to ensure facility readiness and smooth operation of events Implement and update facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures Provide clear, concise, and timely communication of directives to other departments Ensure the Operations Department receives pertinent information for most effective use of the facility and staffing Assist in preparing the Annual Operating Budget and recommend a capital budget for 1‑year and 5‑year long‑range repairs and improvements to the facility Authorize the requisition of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines Provide a yearly inventory of all equipment Know and ensure all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, Risk Management, safety precautions, rules/regulations, and emergency procedures are followed Develop a program to train all employees on Fire/Life Safety, Emergency, and OSHA Procedures Investigate, analyze, and resolve operational problems and complaints Conduct periodic staff meetings to discuss procedures, problems, and policy changes Work closely with the Director to prepare and negotiate Service Agreements Negotiate with vendors, contractors, and service providers Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, emergency procedures, safety, and Risk Management policies in compliance with all company and governmental regulations Act as liaison to public utility, environmental, and energy agencies; assist the Director in implementing any energy‑saving guidelines Coordinate and oversee special projects, such as construction, remodeling, or expansion; plan and direct outside vendors/contractors’ work to ensure compliance with contracts and safety requirements Ensure the facility’s fire and emergency safety systems are in operating order and compliant with all codes, ordinances, and laws Seek professional growth and development Manage subordinate supervisors in Utility, Engineering, Janitorial, Landscape, and Changeover; carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with district policies and applicable laws Record responsibilities such as interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; working with Human Resources; addressing complaints and grievances; and resolving problems For Information Troy Thorn – Assistant Director Event Service & Operations Email: View email address on click.appcast.io Application GISD Application – must be online at Attach the following to the online application:
