Sparkles! Child Care Centers Job

Responsible for supporting lead teachers in the application of knowledge of sound early childhood education and the development concepts and principals including the goals and philosophies of Sparkles! Child Care Centers by performing the following duties.

Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Supports lead teacher in planning and implementing daily classrooms lesson plans assuring safety of children in accordance with Sparkles! policies and procedures and all relevant regulations.

2. Assists with implementing developmentally appropriate early childcare and preschool programs for young children.

3. Assists with preparing weekly lesson plans to include age and stage appropriate activities that meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children that are culturally and linguistically diverse that support the curriculum.

4. Assists in monitoring and observing the daily operation of the classroom for safety, positive interactions, and productive educational activity.

5. Adheres to all established policies, procedures, regulations, and code ethics.

6. Assists in arranging the classroom environment in accordance to program goals and schedules activities that encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem-solving.

7. Completes on-going monitoring and assessments of children's development as required to maintain accurate documentation in children's files.

8. Meets with parents during the year as required.

9. Assists in addressing, monitoring, and documenting issues, concerns, and problems of each individual child discuss with the classroom teachers.

10. Assists in maintaining accurate documentation as applicable to the assigned classroom in accordance to program policies.

11. Establishes and maintains positive relationships and communicates effectively with the center administration and co-workers.

12. Develops and maintains a positive and confidential relationship with the parents of each child including thorough communication about the program and each child's progress.

Essential Function

13. Encourages parent interest and involvement in the program.

14. Reports any suspicion of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate party for follow through.

15. Participates in required training programs, conference, courses, or other aspects of professional growth.

16. Serves snacks and lunches provided by the center or parents.

17. Monitors dietary requirements for individual children as needed.

18. Shares pertinent information, suggestions, or ideas with co-workers on a regular basis.

19. Conducts light cleaning duties such as gathering trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, sanitizing toys and table tops, and other general similar in nature.

20. Conducts diapering and toileting, adhering to appropriate procedures at all times.

21. Administers medication to children within medication administration training guidelines as needed.

22. Answers the phones and relaying messages to the center administration.

Qualifications:

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Safari, and required local or state database to record child assessment information.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience in a child care setting and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
