Food Service Worker

The Food Service Worker is responsible for preparing, facilitating, and maintaining food programs and kitchen/cafeteria areas.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Perform any and all tasks deemed necessary by the Director of Food Services to facilitate the provision of meals to students pursuant to the regulations of the National School Lunch Program and/or its associated programs.
• Prepare hot and cold food items as assigned by the Food Service Manager
• Preparation of serving lines and serving meals for each lunch period
• Clean-up and sanitation of cafeteria area, equipment, and serving lines following HACCP procedures
• Operation of dishwasher and 3-compartment sink for proper sanitation of all food service small equipment

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Combination of education and experience equivalent to high school diploma or GED

Knowledge of weights, measures and portion control

Ability to understand and follow performance directions

Ability to successfully interact with students

Ability to travel to various school district buildings as necessary

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate verbally.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be louder for three hours per day. The use of chemicals is daily related to washing dishes and use of the dishwasher. Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements. Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment. The position holder must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
