Overview New Jersey’s academic health center, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS) takes an integrated approach to educating students, providing clinical care, and conducting research, all with the goal of improving human health. Aligned with Rutgers University–New Brunswick and collaborating university wide, RBHS includes eight schools, a behavioral health network, and six centers and institutes that focus on cancer treatment and research, neuroscience, clinical and translational research, advanced biotechnology and medicine, environmental and occupational health, and health care policy and aging research. Clinical partners include Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, University Hospital in Newark, and other affiliates. Responsibilities Manage overall operations of assigned divisions and directly supervise the administrative staff, handling hiring, firing, and performance reviews. Evaluate new and existing programs, conduct comprehensive assessment of facility requirements, faculty support, equipment purchases, office supplies, funding, and staffing; implement process improvement systems; report findings to Division Chiefs and Senior Director of Administration. Help operationalize faculty schedules, projects, and new program development with approval from the Chairman’s Office. Lead divisional physician engagement initiatives. Manage the division financial office—perform analysis to identify revenue collection issues, reconcile expenses, develop business plans, and collaborate with finance offices at RWJBH and RWJMS to manage budgets, clinical revenue, start‑up packages, grant/contract awards, and other revenue streams; steward division/unit finances. Develop administrative plans for effective utilization and development of resources, including financial and budgetary development, allocation, and use of staff; ensure that financial and management systems are accurately maintained. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree required plus four (4) years of progressively more responsible experience in the management of operational, fiscal activities and/or financial analysis, preferably in higher education/academic environment or multidisciplinary clinical environment. Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong communication, organizational, problem‑solving, multi‑tasking, and leadership skills. Proven ability to organize department work functions efficiently and effectively. Demonstrated management and conflict‑resolution skills to effectively lead and motivate others. Demonstrated knowledge of accomplishing superior performance in a unionized environment. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in related field. Two (2) years of experience at the supervisory/managerial level. Proficiency with MS Office 365 suite of products. Physical Demands and Work Environment Standing, sitting, walking, talking, or hearing; no special vision requirements. Moderate noise; multitasking within fast‑paced environment.
