Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant – Position Overview Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this role supports daily accounting operations, prepares and analyzes financial reports, and contributes to cost accounting activities in a fast‑paced environment. Responsibilities Prepare journal entries for month‑end close duties (65%). Review and analyze general ledger account balances, verify accuracy, and recommend changes. Maintain and reconcile reports for blood and blood components. Prepare monthly bank and balance‑sheet reconciliations. Analyze unusual or exceptional items and recommend corrective actions. Prepare monthly activity, executive, and department analysis reports. Prepare annual audit schedules, analyze discrepancies, and create corrective journal entries (30%). Assist in the preparation of the annual budget. Perform financial analysis. Review costing of products and services. Lead the annual Blood Inventory count process (5%). Provide direction and support to staff regarding accounting procedures. Complete additional responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year college or university. Experience: Minimum three years of related accounting experience. Skills: Proficiency in ERP systems. Intermediate or advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency. Schedule & Location Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm; may require additional hours and occasional weekends or holidays. Travel & Physical Demands None. Requires frequent use of a computer, handling up to 10‑pound items, and compliance with team lift requirements. Work Environment Professional office setting; fast‑paced, moderate noise level in a cubicle workspace; requires strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
