Security Officer - Security - PT - Day

Position Overview Position Status: Part time; Shift: 12-Hour Day Shift (United States of America); Hours per week: 24 Job Information Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Job Responsibilities Enforces regulations, policies and public laws that contribute to the safety and security of patients, visitors, and employees of the medical center. Performs routine security patrols to prevent theft, property destruction, disorderly conduct, and other incidents. Responds to burglar, panic, fire, and infant abduction alarms as necessary. Responds and assists with trauma patients. Performs security‑related functions, including standbys, motorist assistance, locks/unlocks, report writing, CCTV monitoring, and patient assists. Acts as an escort for patients, visitors, employees, and students when needed. Responds to escalating and combative patient and visitor situations and assists staff as needed. Maintains employee vehicle registration and parking assignments; assists with parking‑lot standbys. Assists with monthly fire extinguisher checks and fire drills. Provides motorist assistance (jump starts and inflating tires). Identifies maintenance concerns and reports to the appropriate authority. Maintains patient valuables and lost & found items. Performs patient restraints under direct supervision of a registered nurse. Transports patients to and from Stormont Vail Behavioral Health. Monitors interim life‑safety measures. Travel Requirement: 50% of time involves patrols around the hospital complex and nearby facilities. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Minimum 1 year of security, law enforcement, paid fire, or other emergency service experience. Experience with de‑escalation techniques. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and guidelines. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to write routine reports. Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small‑group settings to customers, clients, and employees. Verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of network, system, and application security. Current valid Driver’s License with a clean MVR; 3‑year baseline and annual review.
