Responsibilities include:Assist physicians and clinical leads with patient care and movement throughout the clinicRoom patients, obtain medical histories and chief complaints, and accurately document information in the EMRProvide direct assistance to physicians and physician assistants in and out of exam roomsProcess prescription requests according to physician orders and established protocolsPrepare and document physician orders for surgeries, diagnostic testing, and other recommended servicesObtain surgical consents according to physician and facility protocolsComplete screening questionnaires for diagnostic testing and surgical proceduresApply and remove casts, splints, and DME supplies and complete required billing documentationProvide patients with post-operative instructions and education according to physician protocolsAssist with suture removal as directedPerform X-rays according to physician protocols, when applicableClean and stock exam roomsEnsure equipment and instruments are properly sterilized and ready for the next clinic dayProvide professional, compassionate customer service to patients, families, physicians, coworkers, vendors, and other partnersWhat We're Looking ForRequired:High school diploma or GEDMust be at least 18 years of ageValid Iowa driver's licenseKnowledge of electronic medical recordsKnowledge of medical terminologyStrong verbal, written, and customer service skillsAbility to understand and follow complex oral and written instructionsKnowledge of HIPAA guidelines and regulationsBasic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certificationMust obtain and maintain required professional certificationMandatory reporter certification for both children and adultsCandidates must hold an active certification or license in one of the following areas:Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Radiologic Technologist [RT(R)], Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), or Kinesiology certification.Physical RequirementsThis position requires the ability to:Stand and/or sit for extended periodsBend, twist, lift, grip, carry, touch, speak, and listenLift and/or carry up to 50 poundsDemonstrate adequate vision and hearing to perform essential job functionsWhy Join COSM?If you're looking for an opportunity to use your clinical skills while making a difference in the patient experience, we'd love to hear from you!
