English Learner (EL) Teacher - Bilingual Preferred

Job Qualifications Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate content area endorsement (ESL) Experience working with English Learners (ELs) is preferred but not required Bilingual Spanish or Arabic preferred Essential Functions & Responsibilities Demonstrate support for the Mission, Vision, and Goals of the Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123. Uphold the established Board of Education policies, regulations, and administrative procedures. Plan and implement appropriate instruction using methods and materials which are most appropriate for meeting district goals and objectives. Utilize research-based best practices to instruct ELs in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Evaluate students on a regular basis and provide reports as required. Create a classroom and school environment that is conducive to learning and is age appropriate. Administer assessments and maintain student records in accordance with ISBE requirements. Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, students, parents, and the community as needed to meet professional standards. Maintain and improve professional competence. Apply student learning theory, brain-based learning, and differentiated instruction. Participate in meetings and perform other responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designee in accordance with the contract and Board of Education. Utilize technology to promote learning, creativity, collaboration. Ability to sit/stand for prolonged periods of time. Regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
