WMC Advanced Physician Services PC · Blood Bank- WMC HealthValhalla, NYAllied Health Prof/TechnicalPer DiemWeekends11-7::30 amJob Summary: The Clinical Technologist is responsible for all activities with blood and blood components including, but not limited to, logging-in the units, thawing plasma, thawing and pooling cryoprecipitate, irradiate products and washing RBCs; setting up patient or blood product samples for testing by a technologist/automated machine; maintenance of lab equipment.Responsibilities:Performing type and screen testing, cross matching, and antibody identificationCalculating and preparing blood for exchange transfusionEnsuring blood inventory control is maintained at acceptable levels Recording all quality control and quality assurance activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performedEnsuring all blood components intended for transfusion are in accordance with cGMP as required by NYSDOH, FDA, AABB, CAP and NYBCHandling other related functions as neededQualifications/Requirements:Experience: Transfusion Service or as a Generalist with prior Blood Bank experience preferredEducation: Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Science or MTLicenses / Certifications: Clinical Lab Technologists issued by the New York State Education Department; or (b) possession of a limited permit as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or restricted license to practice clinical laboratory technology at Westchester Medical Center issued by the New York State Education Department.
