Job Summary

The Patient Services Representative III - Floater (PSR III) represents the face of the organization to patients who visit for routine healthcare services and life-defining health decisions. The PSR III is responsible for drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while following established practices and procedures.

This position has direct patient contact and requires the ability to create an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and performing blood collections in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.

The PSR III will demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, patient service, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. The successful candidate may be assigned to a doctor's office, Patient Service Center (PSC), or other locations based on business needs .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional work environment.
• Perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing following established practices and procedures.
• Perform venipuncture and collect quality blood specimens from patients.
• Demonstrate excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections .
• Verify patient demographic information and initials.
• Obtain the patient's signature after venipuncture to verify that tubes were labeled in the patient's presence.
• Verify that the patient's name on specimen labels is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.
• Provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Handle multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrate superior customer focus and communicate openly and transparently with patients, peers, and supervisors.
• Follow all applicable policies and procedures, including dress code, Employee Health & Safety, and Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.
• Support staffing needs by covering multiple Patient Service Center and In-Office Phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Travel between locations as required based on business needs.
• Maintain flexibility to support changing staffing requirements.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent - REQUIRED.
• Three years of phlebotomy experience - REQUIRED.
• Experience must include:
  • Pediatric collections
  • Geriatric collections
  • Capillary collections
• Excellent phlebotomy and venipuncture skills.
• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record, if applicable.
• Ability to travel between multiple work locations as required.
• Strong patient/customer service and communication skills.
• Keyboard and data-entry experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Medical Assistant training preferred.
• Paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
