Gas Supply Planning Analyst

Overview The Rhode Island Energy Gas Supply Planning Analyst position will report to the Manager of Gas Supply Planning & Analytics and is responsible for executing procurement and supply related transactions in accordance with approved Gas Supply department policies and procedures. The Analyst will build and maintain gas supply data models to manage portfolio requirements, regulatory filings and provide dashboards and reports. Responsibilities Executing and managing the daily, monthly, and seasonal procurement and gas supply related transactions. Using mathematical and analytical methodologies to assess and evaluate gas supply commercial arrangements for natural gas pipeline, storage, and peaking capacity procurement, including cost projections and summaries of operational characteristics for alternative resources. Analyzing large amounts of data to interpret patterns and trends, assess data quality, and communicate results and uncertainties associated with analysis. Updating, maintaining, and performing analysis on complex spreadsheet models. Providing specialized analysis to support responses to internal and external data requests. Developing customized reports using the gas management system. Supporting portfolio optimization analysis by conducting spreadsheet analysis. Providing analytical support for regulatory submissions to the Rhode Island Public Utilities Commission and Division of Public Utilities and Carriers, including the LRP and GCR filings. Sponsoring and supporting testimony with respect to various data analyses. Responding to discovery with respect to submitted data analysis. Monitoring and performing special analysis of natural gas market dynamics and regulatory developments that may affect natural gas supply planning and procurement objectives. Performing other duties as assigned. Complying with all policies and standards. Required Education Bachelor's degree in data analytics, econometrics, quantitative finance, mathematics, or other analytical discipline. Minimum Qualifications Associate level: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis. Specialist level: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline plus 2 years of experience in Electric Utility field work (Journeyman equivalent) or equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis. Senior Level: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline plus 5 years of experience in Electric Utility field work (Journeyman equivalent) or equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis. Lead level: Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline plus 7 years of experience in Electric Utility field work (Journeyman equivalent) or equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis.
