Incumbents select, compound, manufacture, purchase, dispense, and/or preserve drugs, medicines, and other therapeutic agents; serve as a member and consultant on treatment or diagnostic teams; disseminate drug information to hospital staff and community groups; and may participate in research projects or perform pharmaceutical research. What You Will Do Clinical Pharmacy: Applies knowledge of solubility, stability, and administration of drugs; evaluates dosages and concentrations; identifies drug interactions; interprets prescriptions; documents patient data; supports teaching programs; determines proper storage of therapeutic agents according to U.S.P. and N.F. standards. Investigational Drug Service: Provides assistance in coordination and maintenance of pharmacy services for research; participates in sponsor site qualification, initiation visits, and IRB‑approved trials; guides investigational drug service technicians; attends meetings to provide input on drug protocols; serves as liaison between study team, protocol sponsor, and nursing; participates in audits from sponsors, FDA, DEA, NIH, and other regulatory agencies. Education Qualifications Bachelor's in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university. Experience Qualifications Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. One (1) year if completed a PGY1 residency. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to apply judgment and make informed decisions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus. Ability to precept students and residents. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently, and meet deadlines. Knowledge of how patient characteristics and concomitant therapies affect drug activity. Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations related to pharmacy practice. Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and disease states. Knowledge of proper handling and storage of pharmaceutical supplies. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pathology, chemistry, and mathematics as they relate to pharmacy practice. Knowledge of prescription and non‑prescription drugs, their indications, efficacy, dosage, mechanisms of action, contraindications, and potential side effects. Licenses and Certifications CA Board of Pharmacy License – Registered Pharmacist required. BLS – Basic Life Support required within 30 days. ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support required within 30 days.
