Mortgage Underwriter
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mortgage Underwriter to join our dynamic lending team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating mortgage loan applications to ensure they meet our company's lending criteria and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze mortgage loan applications, supporting documentation, and credit reports to assess risk and eligibility.
- Ensure all loan files comply with internal policies, investor guidelines, and federal regulations.
- Make informed decisions on loan approvals, denials, or conditions for approval.
- Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and resolve issues.
- Maintain thorough documentation of underwriting decisions and rationale.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, lending standards, and market trends to ensure compliance and best practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Mortgage Underwriter or in a similar role within the mortgage or banking industry.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines, federal regulations, and compliance standards.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with mortgage underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
