Work Environment
The role of an LPC at our organization primarily takes place in a telehealth setting. This remote work environment grants counselors the flexibility to deliver high-quality mental health care from the comfort of their homes while still maintaining robust interactions with clients. Our team operates collaboratively, utilizing digital tools for effective communication and treatment planning while adhering to all Agency and Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Support primary care providers by identifying, treating, and managing mental health and psychosocial issues among patients, functioning as a vital part of the primary care team.
- Conduct thorough patient intakes to assess diagnostic and functional evaluations, and provide actionable recommendations based on findings.
- Deliver brief but impactful interventions for patients who require immediate mental health assistance.
- Evaluate patient needs to determine whether they are better suited for primary care settings or require referrals to specialized mental health facilities.
- Follow up with patients routinely to assess treatment progress and adapt interventions as needed.
- Develop and implement relapse prevention plans to promote patient stability and recovery.
- Identify at-risk patients and collaborate on preventive strategies to mitigate the progression of their conditions.
- Document all patient interactions, progress, and treatment plans diligently in the electronic health records system.
- Advise primary care providers regarding patient treatment needs and progress to ensure integrated care delivery.
- Assist patients in adopting healthier lifestyle choices and offer education on self-management skills.
- Consult with clinic management to provide insights on behavioral health services and advocate for program improvements based on evaluation outcomes.
Patient Population / Client Focus
This role focuses on a diverse patient population, including individuals experiencing various mental health challenges. Counselors will work closely with clients ranging from children to adults, across different socioeconomic backgrounds, ensuring that every patient receives customized care that addresses their unique circumstances and promotes their overall well-being.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling or a related field is required.
- A current and valid LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) license in the state of Texas is mandatory.
- Strong foundational knowledge in mental health assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic modalities, including family and group therapy.
- Solid understanding of DSM-IV diagnoses along with effective behavioral therapy methods.
- Superior communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to adapt to a remote telehealth setting, utilizing appropriate technology for patient care.
- Health and emotional resilience necessary to manage the demands of the position.
Preferred Experience
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is highly valued but not mandatory.
- Prior experience working in a telehealth environment is advantageous, as is familiarity with electronic health record systems.
- Knowledge of community resources and support networks that can assist patients in achieving their mental health goals.
Compensation and Benefits
