Geotechnical Engineer

Geotechnical EngineerWe are seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to perform inspections and testing during construction. This role includes soil density testing using a nuclear density gauge, assessment of unsuitable soil conditions, and various inspections such as foundations, subgrade, concrete, rebar, masonry, structural steel, cold-formed steel, and road construction. You will prepare field reports and conduct geotechnical laboratory testing for concrete and soil as per ASTM standards. The position requires travel to and from work sites from either the office or home.ResponsibilitiesConduct geotechnical inspections and testing during construction, including soil density testing using a nuclear density gauge and earthwork.Assess unsuitable soil conditions and perform foundation and subgrade reviews.Conduct concrete testing, rebar inspections, pre-slab inspections, masonry inspections, and structural steel bolted and welded connection inspections.Perform cold-formed steel inspections and road construction inspection and testing.Prepare detailed field reports.Conduct geotechnical laboratory testing for concrete and soil according to ASTM standards.Drive to and from work sites from the office or home.Complete other duties as assigned by the Office Manager.Essential SkillsMinimum education of a High School diploma or GED.At least 2 years of relevant experience in geotechnical inspections and testing during construction.Proficiency in preparing field reports.ACI certification for concrete testing or ability to obtain soon after employment.Nuclear Gauge Safety Training Certification or ability to obtain soon after employment.Valid and current driver's license.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with geotechnical laboratory testing for soil and concrete.Proficiency in geotechnical engineering and inspection.Work EnvironmentThe work will be performed primarily on construction job sites, requiring daily travel between the office and job sites. The role is predominantly outdoors, exposing the employee to various weather conditions throughout all seasons. A valid driver's license is required for this position.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bear, DE.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
