Student Worker - Leigh High School Cafeteria

Cafeteria Worker

This is a part-time position limited to meal service (breakfast and lunch). Free meal provided during work shift. Under the supervision of the Food Services Lead and Staff, the student worker will assist the cafeteria staff in serving meals during breakfast and lunch service. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean and organized serving area, ensuring food safety, and providing customer service to students and staff. Training will be provided on proper handling and serving of food products, basic understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation precautions, proper lifting techniques, and customer service.

Primary responsibilities include food setup and service, ensuring portion sizes and food presentation adhere to district and health guidelines, restocking food, utensils, and supplies at serving stations during service hours, monitoring food to ensure compliance with food safety regulations, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, disposing of trash, organic waste and recycling appropriately, and collaborating with cafeteria staff to ensure smooth meal service.

Qualifications include being a current Campbell Union High School District high school student, being able to work 3 days per week, obtaining a work permit if 17 years or younger, being fingerprinted if 18 years or older, maintaining a 2.0 grade point average, being dependable and punctual, following established procedures, and carrying out oral and written instructions.

Working conditions include a school cafeteria environment, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds (50 pounds by two employees), pulling and pushing carts on a daily basis, standing and walking for extended period of time, and verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate with students, food service coworkers, supervisor and other staff.
