Parasitology Lab Aide (Day Shift)

Work Shift: 9am-5:30pm MondaySaturday With Two Scheduled Days Off Each Week. Weekend Coverage Is Required.

The Target Pay for this position is $17.07 an hour. At Antech pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills experience education training and budget.

Job Purpose/Overview

The Parasitology LaboratoryAideis responsible forthe collectionprocessing and preparing of fecal samples.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge skill and/or abilityrequired. • Collect fecal specimens from login scan into loads and prepare for set up.

• Meet allminimumdepartment requirements for para loadsandFcomboset-up rates.

• Accurately building loads and label processing tubes

• Split specimens for Giardia ELISA whenrequired

• Find missing specimens. Print and reconcile queue list

• Maintain organization of storage refrigerator

• Maintain all equipment including hoods centrifuges etc.

• Awareness of quality control and calibration

• Crosstrainanddevelop knowledge of multiple specialties within department/lab.

• Follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) including safety and quality procedures. Maintains clean and organized work area. Restocks supplies as needed

• Participates in improving lab efficiency quality and cooperation.

• Consult with senior peers on non-complex Parasitology tasks to learn through experience.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

EducationandExperience

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Proficiencyin the English language which allows for participation in team meetingsaccurateentry of data into company systems and understanding of written directions

Working Conditions

• Stationary Position- must be able toremainin a stationary position for up to 2 hours.

• Constantlyoperateslab equipment accuratelyandefficiently

• Occasionally required to bend kneel stoop or crouch

• Required to lift move and carry up to 20 lbs.

• The ability toobservedetails at close range

• Extended hours may beneeded

• Laboratoryenvironmentswith potential biohazards present that are mitigated by the mandatory use of PPE

• Receives general instructions on routine work detailed instructions on new assignments

• Work under close to moderate supervision

• Potential for exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards. A complete list of such chemicals is available from department supervision
