Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
The PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing specialized postoperative care to patients emerging from anesthesia. This role ensures safe recovery, monitors patient status, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' physical and psychological status during the post-anesthesia recovery period.
• Administer medications, treatments, and perform nursing skills as needed to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Monitor vital signs and patient responses, quickly identifying and responding to any complications or adverse events.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and progress accurately and timely in the medical record.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare team members regarding patient status and care plans.
• Educate patients and their families about postoperative care instructions and recovery expectations.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid California RN license with active Nursys verification within the last 2 weeks.
• Possess at least 2 years of recent PACU or relevant perioperative nursing experience.
• Maintain current certifications in BLS and ACLS, with expiration dates valid through the length of assignment.
• Demonstrate strong clinical judgment, critical thinking skills, and the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations.
• Show excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
