The City of Golden lies along Clear Creek at the base of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Founded during the Pike's Peak Gold Rush on June 16, 1859, the mining camp was originally named "Golden City" in honor of Thomas L. Golden. Golden City served as the capital of the provisional Territory of Jefferson from 1860 to 1861, and capital of the official Territory of Colorado from 1862 to 1867. In 1867, the territorial capital was moved about 12 miles (19 km) east to Denver City. Golden is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 18,867.

The Colorado School of Mines, offering programs in engineering and science, is located in Golden. Also there are the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, National Earthquake Information Center, Coors Brewing Company, CoorsTek, Boston Market, Spyderco, Software Bisque, American Mountaineering Center, and Colorado Railroad Museum. It is the birthplace of the Jolly Rancher, a candy bought out by the Hershey Foods Corporation, and home to Yeti Cycles. Famous western showman William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody is buried nearby on Lookout Mountain.

Located in an area of spectacular natural beauty, Golden is where the mountains meet the plains. The area offers outstanding outdoor recreation with biking, hiking and kayaking all available right in town. Golden also offers a wonderful, small mountain town atmosphere with creekside restaurants, outdoor cafes, fine dining, art galleries, outdoor recreation shops, one-of-a-kind boutiques, quaint historic homes, and a variety of museums.

This clinic serves as a primary care facility for veterans in the Denver Metro, Front Range and Mountain communities. POSITION OVERVIEW (duties may include, but are not limited to)

• Documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition.
• Collaborating with healthcare team members and other interdisciplinary teams to facilitate positive patient care outcomes.
• Providing a full range of complex and comprehensive nursing care to patients with a variety of physical and/or behavioral problems.
• Accountable for meeting and maintaining the qualification standards and functional statements of the job.
• Demonstrates organizational skills which enable completion of work in a timely manner with demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role in a patient-centered program.
• Establishes effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Prepare patients for surgical and diagnostic procedures and assist with procedures as necessary.
• Conduct initial assessment on patients; develop nursing care plans based on identified patient needs, coordinate with ancillary services to assure provision of care, document all plans, assessments and care provided. Provide patient and family education throughout the hospitalization. Initiate discharge planning.
• Document observations, assessments, and changes in patients' condition.
• Collaborate with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma, Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred) from an accredited program, college, or university.
• Hold a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in any State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
• Has been practicing actively as an RN for at least the last two years.
• Capable of providing complex and comprehensive nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications.
• Has documented training and skills verification.
• Has been actively practicing as a registered nurse in primary care for two years.
