Electrical Supervisor

Electrical SupervisorThe Electrical Supervisor leads all electrical and controls systems installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting for the mill. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of MCCs, PLCs, motors, drives, sensors, scanners, and automation systems critical to sawmill production. We always look to the future and invest in our people, new technologies, and continuous improvement processes and techniques.Benefits HighlightsSubstantial company-paid assistance for Medical and Dental insurance premiums; mental health coverage; cost effective co-pays and deductibles401(k) with 5% annual company contribution and generous company matching contributions vested over three yearsPaid time off, including nine paid holidaysParticipation in the employee bonus programEmployee wellness program that includes free counseling sessions, financial and legal guidance, and moreOpportunities for paid training to support career advancement and personal developmentResponsibilitiesStartup & CommissioningOversee installation, testing, and commissioning of all electrical and automation systems.Work directly with OEMs (e.g., Comact, 3-ph motor suppliers, electricians) to ensure proper integration.Validate PLC logic, safety circuits, VFD settings, motor rotations, and interlocks before startup.Develop electrical SOPs, lockout/tagout procedures, and reliability standards from day one.Maintenance & ReliabilityLead electrical troubleshooting for motors, drives, PLC issues, sensors, scanners, optimization systems, power distribution, and instrumentation.Build and manage a preventive and predictive maintenance program for electrical assets.Ensure maximum uptime by investigating chronic failures and implementing long-term solutions.Maintain clean and accurate electrical drawings, schematics, and controls documentation.LeadershipSupervise, train, and develop a team of industrial electricians and E&I techs.Schedule electrical maintenance work and coordinate with production, mechanical, and operations teams.Set clear expectations around safety, housekeeping, and reliability.Safety & ComplianceEnforce electrical safety standards including NFPA 70E, arc-flash boundaries, and proper PPE.Ensure compliance with NEC, OSHA, environmental rules, and mill safety policies.Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to enhance electrical system performance, energy use, and reliability.Collaborate with operations, reliability, and engineering teams to improve throughput and reduce downtime.Implement automation upgrades and technology enhancements as the mill matures.QualificationsRequired5+ years industrial electrical experience (preferably heavy manufacturing or wood products).Strong expertise with PLC systems (Allen-Bradley preferred) and HMI troubleshooting.Proficiency with VFDs, servo drives, motors, MCCs, sensors, encoders, and power distribution.Ability to read electrical schematics, logic diagrams, and equipment manuals.Experience supervising or leading a crew.Strong commitment to safety and safe electrical work practices.PreferredExperience in a sawmill, plywood, OSB, or other high-speed continuous-process environment.Startup/commissioning experience.Understanding of automated scanning/optimization systems.Electrical license or industrial instrumentation certification.CMMS experience and basic reliability tools (RCFA, PM optimization).Key Success BehaviorsCalm, systematic problem solver under pressure.Able to coach, mentor, and elevate a team.Strong communicator across departments.Detail-driven with a mindset for reliability and prevention, not just repairMore About UsThe timber and wood products industry is a vital part of many communities, and we're excited to bring new opportunities to Allendale County, South Carolina.
