Growth Captain

Small Goal Soccer (SGS) runs adult soccer leagues, tournaments, camps, and events across the United States. We are built around fast-paced, small-sided soccer, strong local communities, and a game-day experience that feels organized, social, and player-first. SGS is growing quickly, but our focus is not just adding more cities. It is building stronger local soccer communities with the right players, captains, facilities, and league nights. We are looking for people who understand the scene, can connect with players, and want to help grow something real from the ground up. Role Description The Growth Captain is an on-site role based in Phoenix, AZ, focused on helping SGS grow leagues, tournaments, and community presence in the market. This role blends grassroots marketing, player recruitment, facility research, content support, and field-side presence. You will be out in the soccer community, building relationships with players, captains, teams, venues, and local partners while helping create the energy and trust that drives SGS growth. Day-to-day responsibilities include promoting upcoming seasons and tournaments, identifying new teams and captains, attending league nights, collecting player feedback, supporting registrations, helping with local outreach, and researching potential facilities or new league locations. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is social, organized, soccer-minded, and comfortable being visible in the community. The right person can move between marketing, operations, player communication, and local relationship‑building without needing everything handed to them. Responsibilities Drive local growth for SGS leagues, tournaments, and events in Phoenix and surrounding areas Build relationships with players, captains, teams, facilities, and community partners Support team recruitment, player retention, and captain engagement Attend league nights and tournaments as a visible SGS representative Assist with registration questions, player communication, and basic field‑side support Research new facilities, fields, neighborhoods, and potential launch opportunities Support grassroots marketing efforts, including social media, local outreach, flyers, partnerships, and community activations Collect feedback from players and captains to improve the league experience Help identify the key “nodes” in the local soccer scene: captains, connectors, teams, and communities that can help SGS grow Work closely with SGS leadership to turn local opportunities into real league growth Qualifications Strong knowledge of soccer and the local adult/recreational sports scene Experience in grassroots marketing, community outreach, sports operations, events, or customer service Confident communicator who can build trust with players, captains, partners, and facilities Organized, reliable, and able to follow through without constant direction Comfortable working evenings and weekends during league nights and tournaments Willing to be on‑site at fields, venues, events, and community activations Basic comfort with social media, email, spreadsheets, and registration tools Photography, video, or content experience is a plus Sports management, marketing, or event experience is a plus Ideal Candidate You are not just looking for a desk job.
