About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Post-Partum Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post-Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7 PM - 7 AM) Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certificate Must-Have: Experience in Post-Partum care Description: The unit provides care for postpartum mothers and their babies. It comprises of 28 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4 couplets. Electronic medical records are managed using Epic. A charge nurse oversees the unit’s operations. Nurse aides are available on every shift. Weekend shifts are required every other weekend. Holiday scheduling will be rotated as needed. Scrub colors are provided by the hospital. Telemetry monitoring is not required for postpartum nurses. Nurses will not read strips. Drips managed include Magnesium and Insulin. Ventilator support is not provided in this unit. A hospitalist or intensivist is available 24/7. An IV team is on-site, and respiratory therapy is available around the clock. Pharmacy services are operational 24/7. Shifts are structured as either 7 PM to 7 AM or 7 AM to 7 PM. Floating to other units is not required. Floor-specific orientation will be conducted. Common diagnoses include postpartum mothers, late preterm infants, bili-light babies, and patients with preeclampsia. There is a strong focus on quality care standards in postpartum care. Documentation for pain management and adherence to quality bundles is expected. The information provided has been reviewed for accuracy. Cancellations may occur up to 4 shifts for a 13-week assignment and 3 for assignments less than 13 weeks.
