General Equipment & Supply is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Class A CDL Driver (OTR) to join our transportation team. This position is based in the Lake Charles, LA and Winnie, TX region and requires significant travel throughout the United States.

The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently between company facilities, customer locations, and job sites nationwide. Approximately 50% will be overnight travel between the Gulf Coast region and our headquarters in Simpsonville, SC, with additional deliveries made throughout the continental United States.

Position Summary

The Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe operation of commercial vehicles while ensuring timely delivery of equipment and materials to customers and company locations. This role requires compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely transport tools, equipment, and materials to customer locations and job sites nationwide.
• Conduct pre-trip, post-trip, and ongoing vehicle inspections in accordance with DOT requirements.
• Secure loads properly and ensure safe loading and unloading procedures.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, fuel records, and shipping documentation.
• Operate forklifts and material handling equipment as needed.
• Coordinate delivery schedules and routing with dispatch and operations personnel.
• Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
• Communicate delivery status, delays, and transportation issues promptly.
• Assist with warehouse, shipping, and receiving activities when required.
• Maintain a professional appearance and represent General Equipment & Supply positively in the field.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) .
• Air Brake Endorsement required.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of Class A CDL driving experience preferred.
• Prior Over-the-Road (OTR) driving experience.
• Clean driving record and ability to meet insurability requirements.
• Ability to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check.
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations and safety requirements.
• Ability to operate forklifts and material handling equipment or willingness to become certified.
• Basic computer and mobile device proficiency for communication and electronic documentation.
• Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift, move, and secure heavy equipment and materials safely.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight operations.
• Transportation logistics and route planning experience.
• Double/Triple Trailer Endorsement.
• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
• Hazardous Materials (HazMat) Endorsement.
• Experience in industrial, construction, utility, or equipment transportation environments.
• Shipping and receiving experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating commercial vehicles.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and greater weights with assistance and appropriate equipment.
• Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and secure cargo as required.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
