Construction Assistant Controller GL & Month-End Close

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller and CFO in overseeing all accounting and financial operations for the construction organizations. This role will play an integral part in the month end close, including GL management and overall oversight and completion of account reconciliations. Supervisory Responsibilities: Assist in oversight of AP and AR Teams Duties/Responsibilities: • Primary responsibility will be the management of the general ledger, including oversight and completion of account reconciliations. This position helps ensure the integrity of the general ledger across multiple divisions and entities. • Key contributor to monthly financials to leadership • Responsible for fixed asset tracking and related depreciation/amortization. • Supports audit preparation and external auditor requests. • Assist with periodic Sales/Use Tax reporting to various jurisdictions. • Assists with Job Cost Accounting and WIP when necessary. • Assists with the oversight of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. • Internal Controls and Compliance – assists in development accounting policies and procedures. Required Skills/Abilities: • Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting • Seeks opportunities to improve processes and make a measurable impact. • Demonstrated success in managing month-end close in a fast-paced business environment • Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations and construction accounting concepts. • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. • Position requires strict attention to detail. • Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy. • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs, especially Excel. • Must be able to learn other accounting software systems. • Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records. Education and Experience: • 5+ years of accounting experience – construction or related experience is preferred • Accounting Degree Required – CPA or CPA eligible required • Experience with Sage 300 or CMIC preferred Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen. Random drug screens will also be conducted for the duration of employment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
