Certifications:
- ARRT (R) required
- Certified Computed Tomography Technologist (ARRT (R)(CT)) preferred
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) required


Must-Have:
- Understanding of sectional anatomy and anatomic terminology
- Proficiency in operating CT equipment
- Knowledge of protocols relating to contrast administration
- Ability to recognize emergent patient situations and respond appropriately
- Ability to function independently and as part of a team
- Effective communication skills


Description:
The CT Tech performs a variety of CT procedures using ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
This position requires ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment to perform high-quality scans.
The tech maintains ARRT competency in all clinical and technical functions of the job.
They understand and operate CT equipment and related information systems appropriately to ensure the production of quality images.
The tech ensures proper patient identification and order verification.
They prepare the patient for the exam and perform exams per department protocol.
Images are reviewed and evaluated for quality, clarity, and accuracy to ensure that all necessary anatomical structures are captured.
Adherence to radiation safety guidelines is essential to maintain a safe working environment for patients and staff.
Studies must be completed within acceptable time limitations without compromising patient care or the quality of the examination.
Patient education is provided, ensuring comfort while addressing patient and family concerns.
The tech coordinates patient care and communicates pertinent information to other caregivers following procedures.
Practicing appropriate infection control and sterile techniques is crucial.
Accurate records of patient information, procedures performed, and any adverse reactions or incidents must be kept.
They follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, and charging while obtaining necessary consents.
The tech maintains applicable quality control programs and reports any equipment failures or problems.
They are responsible for administering contrast media to patients under physician supervision per protocol.
Education regarding safety concerns inherent to contrast administration is also provided to patients.
Staying updated with the latest advancements in CT technology, techniques, and protocols by participating in continuing education activities is encouraged.
Assisting and instructing students and other radiology technologists in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment is a part of their role.
