Hospitalist Locum Tenens Physician

External Position Overview

One of our Partners in North Carolina is seeking a Board-Certified Hospitalist or Nocturnist for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity offering a predictable 7-on/7-off schedule and long-term stability.

This position focuses exclusively on overnight hospital medicine coverage. Providers will manage admissions, inpatient care coordination, and overnight cross-coverage while working within an established health system utilizing Epic EMR.

The assignment offers consistent scheduling, manageable volumes, no required procedures, and the opportunity to work within one of North Carolina's leading healthcare systems.

• Average nightly census: 15-18 patients
• Average admissions: 8 per shift

• PRN shifts may be available in addition to block scheduling

Job Responsibilities

• Provide overnight hospital medicine coverage
• Evaluate and admit new patients
• Manage inpatient admissions and overnight care
• Coordinate care with specialists and nursing staff
• Respond to overnight clinical needs
• Complete documentation within Epic EMR
• Participate in patient handoff and sign-out processes

Skills & Experience

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Hospital Medicine experience preferred
• Active North Carolina Medical License required
• Active DEA required
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• Epic experience preferred
• Comfortable working independently overnight
