Water/Wastewater Project Engineer

We are seeking a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to support the delivery of technically challenging infrastructure projects across water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, pipelines, and related utility systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to projects from initial concept and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. You will work closely with clients, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver safe, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions.


Your responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing designs, calculations, specifications, drawings, schedules, and technical reports; coordinating engineering activities across civil, mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines; supporting feasibility studies, options appraisals, and detailed design development; and assisting with the preparation of tenders, cost estimates, and project programmes. You will provide technical support during construction, respond to requests for information, review contractor submissions, attend site meetings, and help resolve technical issues. The role will also involve monitoring quality, health and safety, environmental performance, and compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and industry guidance. You may be required to support project managers with progress reporting, risk management, change control, and stakeholder communication.


Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil, environmental, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering, with demonstrable experience in water or wastewater infrastructure projects. A strong understanding of treatment processes, hydraulic principles, pipelines, pumping systems, or utility networks is desirable, along with experience using relevant design and project management software. You should be confident interpreting technical information, managing competing priorities, and communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Professional registration or active progress towards chartership is advantageous. A proactive, collaborative approach, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions are essential. The position may involve occasional travel to project and client sites.
