Community and Digital Organizer

About the Role The New Jersey Working Families Alliance is seeking a detail-oriented, multi-talented Community and Digital Organizer to build community power in New Jersey. The role involves regional coalition organizing, civic action sessions, training for non‑partisan voter engagement, recruiting and nurturing volunteer leaders, and supporting the We the People NJ Civic Engagement Table. It also includes digital organizing, content creation, and project support for the organization’s strategic initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with the team to support NJWFA and NJWFP initiatives and candidates in New Jersey. Build digital and grassroots support for NJWFP electoral programs. Create compelling digital campaigns that showcase NJWFA and NJWFP’s vision and leadership, under the guidance of the Director of Democracy Organizing. Produce creative content for the organization’s social networking sites. Assist in executing rapid‑response social media actions. Help build the We the People Civic Engagement table through digital and on‑ground organizing. Organize bi‑monthly regional coalition meetings with groups across North, Central, and South Jersey. Recruit and support local activism and volunteer communities in coordination with Organizing and Technology leads. Identify and build alliances with other organizations. Evaluate changing conditions and adjust plans accordingly. Additional Responsibilities Fundraising support. Staff NJWFA and NJWFP fundraisers. Participate in annual membership drives. Skills and Qualifications Sincere passion and commitment to social, economic, and racial justice. Preferred: 3–5 years (or more) of experience in digital organizing and storytelling. 1–3 election cycles of experience with field strategy and management. Experience in both electoral and issue campaigns that further the progressive movement. Excellent listening, interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills. Willingness to learn, work hard with irregular hours, and work independently with guidance as well as within a team. Proven organizing ability and effectiveness in engaging potential activists, supporters, institutional leaders, and elected officials. Ability to train and develop volunteer leaders. Demonstrated ability to cultivate powerful relationships and build alliances that influence decision‑makers. Proficiency with CRMs (Every Action, VAN/Votivate). Location and Travel This is a hybrid role with no office requirement. Candidates must reside in New Jersey and attend in‑person meetings and events approximately two days per week. Travel may be required for major events and frequent staff meetings. Schedule Temporary, full‑time position concluding on July 1, 2027. Union Affiliation WFP is a unionized workplace.
