CNC Setup & Operations Machinist — Stevensville, MI A day in the life
You arrive at our Stevensville, MI facility and review the day’s work orders. You pull up programs, set tooling, verify offsets, and run first articles against the blueprint. Throughout the shift, you keep a close watch on cycle times and surface finishes, making on-the-fly adjustments to hold spec. Between runs, you perform routine maintenance, keep your area clean, and record production data so the next shift starts strong. Along the way, you collaborate with teammates to solve problems and streamline processes—because quality and efficiency go hand-in-hand here.
What you’ll do- Set up and operate CNC equipment to produce parts that meet print specifications.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to plan each run.
- Monitor machining operations; adjust tooling, offsets, and parameters to maintain quality.
- Conduct routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on CNC machines.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized workstation.
- Partner with team members to refine processes and improve throughput.
- Document production details and keep accurate, timely records of work performed.
- High school diploma or equivalent; machining-related technical training or certification is a plus.
- Hands-on experience as a CNC Machine Operator or Machinist.
- Solid understanding of CNC programming concepts and machine operation.
- Proficiency with precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
- Comfort reading and interpreting technical documentation and blueprints.
- Sharp attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.
- Clear communicator who thrives in a team-oriented environment.
- Flexibility to work varied hours and overtime when needed.
