Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

An opportunity is available for experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in emergency care and the ability to effectively manage critical situations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide emergency care to a wide range of patients, including those with trauma, strokes, STEMIs, chest pains, and respiratory conditions.
• Conduct assessments and develop appropriate nursing care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
• Administer medications and manage common drips, such as heparin and levophed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Supervise and mentor nursing staff as a charge nurse, taking on patient assignments when necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of direct experience in the Emergency Room.
• Charge nurse experience is required.
• Critical access experience is strongly preferred.
• Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, PALS, and TNCC.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team and adapt to the fast-paced environment of emergency care.

Work Environment

This role operates within a critical access organization, which includes an Emergency Room with 2 beds and a Medical/Surgical Unit with 10 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3-4 in the ER and 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night in the Medical/Surgical Unit. Patient populations range from pediatrics to geriatrics, managing a variety of conditions such as pneumonia, UTIs, and others.

Shift & Scheduling

• Full-time positions available with flexible self/team scheduling.
• Shifts include 0630-1900 and 1830-0700.
• Every other weekend and every third holiday commitment required.
• Orientation will be provided, including 1 shift of unit/department-specific training.
