This position will be responsible for managing a team of claims examiners possessing varied experience levels. This position will oversee the resolution of claims with low to high complexity and provide direction, coaching, and training. This position will report to the Dir or Senior Dir of claims and be responsible for conveying the organization’s objectives and priorities to staff and measure progress towards stated goals.Job ResponsibilitiesDirect and monitor assignments of new loss activityReview and approve correspondence and reportsReview and approve reserves and settlements in excess of examiner’s authorityMake recommendations concerning reserve changes to director or senior management.Participate in review and discussion of large loss activity with interested stakeholders (UW, PL, Actuarial, Executive Management)Ensure that team adheres to Fair Claims Practices regulations and internal Claims Quality Performance ObjectivesAssess and evaluate individual examiner and team performance, provide feedback and develop training needsPrepare and distribute reports by collecting and summarizing informationAssist in preparation of budgets, evaluation of expenses and assess resource needsFoster and encourage strong relationships with internal stakeholders (UW, PL, Actuarial)Promote and enhance strong relationships with customers and channel partnersParticipate in special projects as requestedTravel to other claim offices, mediations, trials, and conferences as required.Education:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experienceCertification:Successful achievement of insurance industry designations a plusManagement training a plusWork Experience:Minimum of 10 years in the insurance industry, with a deep and broad understanding of workers compensation.Experience managing people.Skill Sets:Strategic thinker with good organizational skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsStrong organization and time management skillsAbility to deliver outstanding customer serviceIntermediate skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Word)Ability to work in a team environmentStrong desire for continuous improvementUS Work AuthorizationUS Work Authorization required. The posted salary range reflects the lowest and highest base salary applicable to this role across our U.S. locations. Individual offers are determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related factors. As a result, the salary offered for a specific location will fall within a narrower range than the overall range displayed in this posting.
