Billing Specialist

Location Coquille, OR Employment Type Full-Time Salary $21.06 - $27.50 Purpose / Description Responsible for multiple phases of billing process and to ensure acceptable cash flow and appropriate days in receivable by timely follow-up and resolution of balances owed by insurance companies and patients. Responsibilities Prepares and submits claims to various insurance companies either electronically or by paper. Responsible for daily account follow up. Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies. Research and resolve credit balances, missing payments, and unposted cash as appropriate. Responds and maintains correspondence. Responds to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner Communicates appropriately with insurance companies, patients, co-workers and supervisors Resolve insurance claim rejections/denials and remedy expediently. Meets minimum productive standards and assists with departmental coverage as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Education High School diploma, or equivalent. Experience Minimum of (1) one year experience in a medical setting, data entry of hospital and clinical financial system preferred. Formal training of college coursework in lieu of experience will be considered. Knowledge of insurance processes, collection procedures and regulations preferred. Knowledge of computers Knowledge of business office procedures. Must be proficient in 10 - key by touch and keyboarding skills.
